Tongariro National Park

The Tongariro National Park is located roughly in the center of the North Island. It contains the three volcanoes: Mt Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Mt Tongariro. Mt Ruapehu provides the main skiing areas for the North Island.

I was amused by a brochure which said "it is unlikely that your skiing fun will be spoiled by an unwelcome lava flow".
